Director, Animator and Artist
Donovan Lenten is a non-binary director and animator from Leicester, England. Influenced by their city’s rich history, they specialised in fine art, with a solid foundation in sculpture and design. These practices have strongly influenced their filmmaking. This has led them to explore multiple filmmaking techniques in innovative ways, from animated porcelain to long-exposure pixilation and charcoal zoetropes.
Having graduated from The National Film and Television School with an MA in Directing Animation, Donovan has spent the last few years honing their skills in visual, narrative and artistic storytelling.
Donovan brings a deep understanding of emotion to the films and characters they create. This has enabled them to connect with their audience on difficult topics such as mental health struggles, systemic persecution and grief, through beautifully artistic means.
